Well I didn't expect this! 10-5-10

Well, dang. The other day I stumbled at an art meeting and almost fell twice. My good friend Ron Covert was honest enough to call and tell me it looked suspicious......so I go to the GP. Sure enough...looks like something wrong. CT and artery tests show I have a clot and I have had a mini stroke.
The one thing I love to do is write... can't write. I type easier...but I'm practicing handwriting again. Ahhhh crumb, if it isn't one thing it's 2. more to come after the visit to the neurologist this afternoon. He can't tell me too many more worse things.......can he?

Where is art in all this? It's keeping me sane.

I cling to my family, my wonderful husband and such kind friends.

Art is what keeps me going. When I can't draw that curve I try again...and again...and again.

10-14-10

Good morning, a beautiful day. I was going to do some mini pictures today. But I need quiet I envy those who can paint and talk because I find it very hard. Norm has gone golfing and life here is very quiet. We are winding down from 2-3 weeks of family coming and going.
I spoke to the curator of a new gallery and look forward very much to hearing more from her.

10-8-10 The Pink Show

I went last night to The Pink Show at Sorensens. I had about 20 minutes to look at the whole show. And I raced through. I didn't get enough time to see and feel it all..but what I did see was so inspiring. Such feelings and emotions! And also I had two pieces...one a dove the other an abstract of pink, white and...Oh you just have to go see
Right now I'm just doing a number of 'small' paintings. They are about 6" X 8" and today is already going fast..so back to work.

Sunday , October 3, 2010--no rain.

Happy Sunday all.
I woke up to watching some football players wearing pink sneakers...with a big pink ribbon on the field.
So it is the day to remember breast cancer. I hope you can remind someone, most every family has dealt with this horrible illness. Perhaps light a candle?

I woke up also to a wet day. The rain had just drizzled in my part of town. I felt CHEATED. No steady rain. Mother Nature isn't cooperating .

I dropped off two paintings at the Pink Show yesterday at Chris Sorensens'. It's a shame more people don't go to his wide open studio of treasures. There is no charge and a world of artists show there.
Especially don't miss The Pink Show !

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

I missed a couple of days and it's because I'm stuck! You know the good ol' "creative block" you hear about? It is alive and in place in my head and it's SO frustrating. This is when you paint and paint and paint and IT just won't turn out.
Nothing turns out...or I have a bunch of half paintings. ARGGGGGGGUUUUUEEE!!!!!!

Good Afternoon World

I have had the upcoming Pink Show on my mind. The Pink Show is an October Show to raise awareness/money for Breast Cancer.
How many ways can I represent Cancer? The list is endless. Over and over I turn the subject over in my mind....ideas ranging from the the pain of hearing a diagnosis to the determination not to let this Big C rule their lives. We've fought the battle from my home ground to yours...few of us are untouched ...... cancer is an equal opportunity illness.

So how to address this with my painting? Colors? Pink is the theme but can I direct my work that way?
I have three options in front of me: a blank canvas, a partly done background and the bare outlines of a woman walking away. The background with the vibrant colors of royal blue and green are so tempting because of the wealth of color...the woman walking away seems like it has such possibilities. But the best would be to meld these ideas...

Welcome to my Blog

I am Linda Lloyd Pitts and I am an artist. Welcome to my Blog! I finally get to write about my art!

I will try to get into a regular routine to talk about my art, why I do it, how I do it, and my life along with my art. The two are inexorably tied to each other so this blog with talk about both.

Here are two of my paintings Called The Dancer and The Dove
